The distance between the Submersible Death Trap and the Nexus of Hate - a mere seven miles - is an interesting thing. So much often changes in the time it takes me to go from work to home, and vice versa. I've mentioned before that on Thanksgiving Eve, that trip caused me to cancel my trip home for Thanksgiving. Yesterday, I was all set to hit the treadmill as soon as I arrived home...but the trip took twenty-eight and a half minutes, including five minutes just to get out of my parking spot. By the time I arrived I was wiped out and wanted to simply vegetate for a length of time. By contrast, the trip into work this morning took mere fifteen and a half minutes.
Once I pulled through that, the major accomplishment of last night was putting together the Stat Sheet, a self-updating record of where I stand in the term of my enlistment. I also changed some things on the home page to remove the requirement to refresh the page.
I wasn't made happy when I came in this morning and was informed that I'd be performing a evolution monitored by the CO...in two and a half hours, which really isn't any time at all to prepare. It went about as well as I expected, and it's better to get some experience with it now, vice seeing it for the first time when an outside inspection team comes aboard in a couple of months.
It's looking like I'm going to have to scrap this weekend's planned trip to Long Island; the weather forecast for Sunday looks pretty bad for the entire Northeast. Having to get up at 4:45 on Monday morning, I don't want to battle the elements in what is already a fairly long trip.
