Also mentioned late last night was the recent Paris Hilton video hitting back at John McCain's use of her likeness in a spot. Hilarious. I'm glad somebody has a workable plan, even if she didn't come up with it herself. I am impressed with the fact that she nailed it from memory and did it in only four takes. But her choice of running mate leaves something to be desired; Rihanna is from Barbados, and thus cannot ascend to the presidency. I can't tell if that was an intended joke or not.
On days like today, I'm really a fan of the Blue Trooper's sun roof.
It only took a few days for the Pussycat Dolls' latest, "When I Grow Up," to go from "mid-level annoyance" to "catchy and enjoyable."
I had previously read about the plight of Army 2LT Caleb Campbell, who was recalled to active service on the eve of training camp with the Detroit Lions, who had drafted him in April. But reading it again in Rick Reilly's words really brought home how much of a raw deal it is, and how totally unsurprised I am that it went down this way, given my knowledge of how the military works. I can't speak for the Air Force, but I'm very familiar with the concept of the "good deal radar" in the Navy. Waiting two weeks to inform the aggrieved party? Checks with chart. One guy losing out while others don't? Uh-huh. I definitely tip my hat to 2LT Campbell though; he has handled the situation with class and grace, and will no doubt be an effective leader in whatever unit he finds himself in.
