An entry is demanded...

...whenever I get up at 0630 without the assistance of an alarm, even if it's a short one.

The post-Alexei Yashin era has started with a bang, as the Islanders are 2-0 after a pair of wins against the Sabres. I didn't have high expectations for them, but this might be one year in which they make something happen. The battle of New York football also had a favorable outcome; the Giants came back from ten down at the half to beat the Jets 35-24 and win their third straight. I'm really not sure what to make of this. I wrote off Big Blue following the week two loss to the Packers, and now they're back above .500. The one thing that sticks in the back of my mind is that this team has had late losing streaks in two of the last four years. And the Phillies were quickly shown the door in the National League playoffs...wait, that's irrelevant; the Mets are just as much out of the postseason as they were a week ago.
