The Yankees shocked the baseball world this weekend by acquiring Alex Rodriguez, who will play third base for the Bombers. From a fan's perspective, it doesn't mean much. The Mets stunk on Friday, and this deal doesn't change that. If he happens to hit a homer in one of the six intracity games, well, bully for him. As far as the "impact on the game," well, who knows. It does put a lot more pressure on the Yankees to win, given that they're now spending nearly $200 million in payroll this year. The Yanks have had the highest payroll in MLB the last three years, but they have zero World Series championships during that span.
