new toys and other great things...

Ryan bought himself a new Porsche Boxster last weekend. I am anxious to ride shotgun alongside him, but I don't think I'll be shelling out for a similar vehicle anytime soon.

I did, however, splurge for a much less expensive item, one which I'm using at this very moment - a new laptop! I've broken with eleven years of family tradition by purchasing a Toshiba Satellite instead of a Gateway. I had been having a problem with the power supply on the old one, and I finally decided that it was a better solution to simply lay out for a new machine rather than pour more money into the old one. So far, it's running a lot like Ryan's Boxster is; smooth and beautiful.

I was below decks during Tuesday's change of command ceremony aboard Memphis; I preferred it this way, not really wanting to get into full dress whites and stand in the sun for over two hours, probably burning my skin to a crisp.

On Wednesday morning, just before I left the boat, one of the senior chiefs mentioned something about a sticker on a beer. This afternoon, as I was leaving for Best Buy to buy the aforementioned computer, I saw what he was talking about. Just after turning onto Route 12, I saw the billboard for Stella Artois beer, which has a beer with the words "Perfection has its price" to the right. Well, someone placed a giant sticker with the Memphis logo over the Stella Artois logo. I took a picture, which you can see at my MySpace.

Gambling update: I won three Benjamins at the blackjack table at Mohegan on Monday night...and promptly lost it all back last night. must stop, must stop... :-)

I finally used my free movie ticket from almost a year ago, to see Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. It was hilarious. When the cougar first appeared, I laughed for a solid forty-five seconds.
